Learn more about some of the ingredients in our soup base.
Yeast Extract
Yeast extract, derived from the same yeast used in bread and beer, is a natural flavour enhancer commonly found in foods like soy sauce, soups, and cheese. It provides a savoury 'umami' taste, similar to how spices enhance dishes. Yeast extract naturally contains glutamates, which contribute to its rich flavour profile. It also contains B vitamins, though in small amounts when used as a food ingredient.

Disodium guanylate, disodium inosinate
Disodium guanylate and disodium inosinate are naturally occurring compounds that work wonders when it comes to enhancing flavor. They boost the taste of salt, so you can use less of it and still enjoy a delicious dish. They also add that rich, savory "umami" flavor we love in foods like cheese, meat, and mushrooms—where these compounds naturally occur. This makes it easier to whip up a flavorful broth without needing a lot of added salt.Ours are made from plant-based sources like sugar cane and corn. While sometimes confused with MSG (monosodium glutamate), disodium guanylate and disodium inosinate are not the same and do not contain glutamate. Instead, they complement glutamates—whether naturally present or added—to enhance savoury flavour.

Canola Oil
Canola oil is a light, neutral-tasting oil derived from a specially cultivated variety of the rapeseed plant. The name “canola” comes from a blend of “Canada” and “ola,” meaning oil. It’s valued for its versatility in cooking and its balance of healthy fats. With a favourable ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids, canola oil can be part of a well-rounded diet. Research suggests that its high unsaturated fat content may support heart health and metabolic function when consumed in moderation. While modern diets often contain excess omega-6 fats, the key is maintaining balance by incorporating a variety of nutrient-rich whole foods.Like most plant-based oils, canola oil undergoes refining to ensure stability and a neutral flavour. In our products, we use only a small amount of canola oil, focusing on whole-food ingredients to deliver great taste and nutrition.

Dextrose & Corn Syrup: A Touch of Sweetness
Dextrose and corn syrup are simple carbohydrates that contribute mild sweetness and functional benefits in food. Dextrose, a naturally occurring simple sugar, is identical to the glucose our bodies use for energy. It helps balance flavours and enhance taste without overpowering a dish.

Corn Syrup
Corn syrup, primarily composed of glucose, is sometimes used in small amounts to provide consistency and stability in recipes. Unlike high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which contains a mix of glucose and fructose, the corn syrup used in our products is purely glucose-based.Both dextrose and glucose serve a purpose beyond sweetness, helping to round out flavours and create a well-balanced taste experience. And if you take a look at the nutritional facts on our products, they rarely exceed more than 1% of your daily recommended sugar intake, so you can enjoy them as part of a balanced diet.
